Crystal Chan, MD MSc FRCSC
Crystal Chan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Canada, with dual specialization in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology.
She is an academic physician at Mount Sinai Fertility and a clinician scientist at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital. She obtained her clinical and research training at the University of Toronto and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Her three work passions are patient care, research examining the mechanisms behind embryo implantation, and minimally invasive fertility surgery. Given the opportunity, she would talk your ear off about all three. She has received national and international recognition for research, including awards from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Canadian Society for Clinical Investigation (CSCI). She is a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS), and teaches laparoscopic surgery skills at local and international conferences.
Unlike Prati, Crystal is not at the gym at 6:00 am every day. She is walking her dog with a coffee in hand. But like Prati, Crystal understands the pressures and expectations that modern society places on women and relates to her patients on that level. She takes a patient-centred and caring approach to treating her patients.
